Something for everyone
I'm a big believer in taking
kids on trips, but I think the adults need time to relax, too. That's
where the kid-friendly resort pays off.
Day to day the adults
were happy just lying by the pool, working out in the morning and
playing tennis in the afternoon.
But children want to keep
busy, so for them the kids' camp at our resort came in handy. We didn't
put our kids in camp every day, but a day or two was just perfect.
One day at camp our
children enjoyed swimming, making pinatas and playing Twister on the
beach. It cost about $13 per child, and we were rewarded with seven
hours of quiet time, which we spent reading by the pool and taking a
leisurely walk on the beach.
One night we splurged on
a $20-per-hour baby-sitter (worth every penny) and hit the night-life
scene in Cabo San Lucas. We danced, played pool, visited "The World's
Smallest Bar," which was about the size of a guest bathroom, and sang
karaoke. We had to leave, unfortunately, about midnight, just as things
looked like they were picking up.
That's how we felt about
Cabo, too. A lot of exciting things are going on here, and we had just
dipped our toes in the water.
